Peer Review Policy
Ethics and Guidelines for Peer Reviews
- Acceptance to review a manuscript is predicated only on expertise in relevant field
- Information, propositions and arguments are based on facts rather than preconceived prejudice
- Abstain from extraction, conversion and use in any form, of data or information contained in manuscripts during peer-review process
- Avoidance of derogatory and/or inflammatory comments. Style of approach should be objective and criticisms constructive
- Race, beliefs and political affiliations play no role during review process except where such is necessitated by study design
- Importantly, timely review of manuscripts and decisions presented with clarity to editors and authors
- Acknowledge that review process is humanitarian and reciprocal in nature
Reviewers for NJBAS are expected to assess manuscripts on the following:
Original contribution
Suitable title
Clear presentation
Data/statistical concurrence
Adequacy of Figures, Tables, etc in quality and number
Adequate and concise conclusion
Reference to previous work in subject area
